Dress code

Momentum Dance Academy Colors are Royal Blue and Black. No jewelry will be allowed to be worn in any class. Please keep your valuables at home. We are not responsible for lost belongings. Please do not wear any street shoes into the studio. Bring any shoes that will be worn in class in a bag to be changed into, this includes Hip Hop sneakers. Should specific shoes be needed for recital that are different from a regular class you will be notified in December.

Ballet

All dancers must wear a leotard, pink footed tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be secured in a bun. Pre-K combo and 6-8 Ballet should purchase a full sole slipper and 8+ dancers should purchase a split sole ballet slipper.

Pointe

Will follow the same requirements as Ballet. Will require Pointe shoes. A proper fitting for Pointe shoes is highly recommended.

Acro

All dancers should wear either a leotard or tight fitted top, leggings, or biker shorts. Hair should be secured in a bun or pulled off the face in a ponytail. Dancers are barefoot.

Jazz

All dancers should wear either a leotard, tan (LSN) or close to skin tone footed tights and tan jazz shoes or tight fitted top, leggings or biker shorts with tan tights and jazz shoes. Hair should be secured in a bun or pulled off the face in a ponytail.

Lyrical

All dancers should wear either a leotard, tan (LSN) or close to skin tone stirrup tights and tan jazz shoes or tight fitted top, leggings or biker shorts with tan tights and pirouette shoes. Hair should be secured in a bun or pulled off the face in a ponytail

Hip Hop

All dancers should wear either a leotard or tight fitted top, leggings, or biker shorts. Hair should be secured in a bun or pulled off the face in a ponytail. Clean sneakers or Hip Hop shoes should be worn.

Male Dancers

Male dancers should wear a tight fitted T-shirt or tank, black athletic shorts, or pants. Shoe requirements are the same.

Shoes

Each class has a specific style of dance shoe that is required. Two dance shoe brands that are most used are Bloch and Capezio. These shoes can be purchased at Accents Dancewear in Berkeley Heights, Capezio in Clark or even on Amazon.
